Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

About Me

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a difficult time. I've always had trouble with my back, and the weight gain threw me off balance and made me experience a lot of pain. I was so uncomfortable all of the time that I couldn't even get through a day of work. I finally decided to go see a chiropractor that a coworker recommended. I was very nervous -- I'd heard about having your back cracked, and it sounded scary to me. The chiropractor did manipulate my back, but he was very gentle, and it didn't hurt at all. In fact, it helped. So did the massage table in his office. Without that care, I don't know how I would have gotten through the rest of the pregnancy. I decided to start a blog to help other women learn how chiropractic care can help them through a difficult pregnancy.

Tips For Getting Chronic Pain Relief

Today, chronic pain in the United States has a 20.4% prevalence, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). This is a large segment of the population, and people are dealing with many different types of pain, for several different reasons. The important thing to remember is that there are many treatments you can try out that will help you deal with chronic pain. Keep reading to learn how chiropractors and other professionals can get you started on your pain relief journey.

Visit a chiropractor first and foremost

Your first stop needs to be to a chiropractor since they deal with your musculoskeletal system. Many people today have pain in their neck or lower back, and a chiropractor can get down to the bottom of it. They'll assist you with adjustments on a regular basis, and can let you know whether your pain issues are muscle or nerve related.

You might pay about $65 per visit for a chiropractor's service. Many of these chiropractors provide additional services, such as cold therapies and chiropractic massage.

Go on a physical therapy or other pain relief regimen

Pain relief has to be an active process. Visit a physical therapist that can create customized workouts for you to increase flexibility and improve your blood flow. You may also look to try stretching or yoga so that you can add flexibility to your lumbar and pelvic region—two common pain areas that interconnect with so many different muscle groups and body parts. Stick to the game plan laid out by your physical therapist and come prepared to work each session.

Make changes in your everyday life to deal with pain

Finally, keep in mind that chronic pain relief is a holistic decision. Make sure that you're sleeping soundly each night, on a mattress that supports your body. Switch to a pillow that supports your neck in a natural way. Eat foods that help your body heal, rather than adding to the inflammation you are already dealing with.

Plant-based diets are great for pain relief for this reason. Adding hemp seeds to some quinoa, oatmeal, a smoothie, or salad, will give you plenty of omega 3 fatty acids, which help your body's anti-inflammatory response. This way, you'll be able to get rid of pain of all types.

The tips above will give you a great head start when you're looking to get your chronic pain under control.
