Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

About Me

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a difficult time. I've always had trouble with my back, and the weight gain threw me off balance and made me experience a lot of pain. I was so uncomfortable all of the time that I couldn't even get through a day of work. I finally decided to go see a chiropractor that a coworker recommended. I was very nervous -- I'd heard about having your back cracked, and it sounded scary to me. The chiropractor did manipulate my back, but he was very gentle, and it didn't hurt at all. In fact, it helped. So did the massage table in his office. Without that care, I don't know how I would have gotten through the rest of the pregnancy. I decided to start a blog to help other women learn how chiropractic care can help them through a difficult pregnancy.

Physical Therapy Services For Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is often the result of an injury; however, it can be caused by arthritic conditions such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. In addition, lower back pain is commonly caused by standing for long periods of time, a herniated disc, or sciatic nerve inflammation. If you are seeking alternative treatment options to prescription pain medication to relieve your symptoms, make an appointment with your chiropractor to learn more about physical therapy services. Here are some important benefits that physical therapy (PT) can provide you if you suffer from lower back pain.

Enhanced Circulation

The exercises that you will perform during your (PT) sessions will help promote blood flow and circulation to the affected areas of your back. Therapy is especially helpful for lower back pain that is caused by an injury because enhanced circulation to the injured areas helps promote healing while reducing inflammation. It is important to note that while physical therapy services are commonly recommended in the management of many types of back pain, even chronic back pain, you will most likely need to attend multiple sessions before you experience permanent pain relief.

Pain Relief And Increased Mobility

If you suffer from lower back pain, chances are that you will also have decreased mobility, flexibility, and range of motion. The physical therapy services professional will recommend exercises such as plank exercises, crunches, core strengthening exercises, lumbar stretching exercises, and squats. In addition, your chiropractor or other physical therapy services provider may also recommend low-impact aerobic exercises such as walking on a treadmill and riding a stationary bicycle.

Aerobic exercises will help relieve your lower back pain, enhance your mobility, and increase your range of motion so that you can bend down, walk, twist, and even run without exhibiting symptoms. It is important to note that before you begin your PT program, your chiropractic physician will need to perform a comprehensive examination to assess your lower back for areas of tenseness and inflammation. They may also need to assess your gait to see if your lower back pain has affected your ability to walk without limping or has caused balance problems.

If you suffer from lower back pain and would like to avoid taking prescription pain medication to manage your symptoms, schedule an appointment with your chiropractor. They will recommend a chiropractic treatment plan that may include physical therapy services, therapeutic massage, and spinal manipulation treatments that can help get you back on your feet as soon as possible.
