Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

About Me

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a difficult time. I've always had trouble with my back, and the weight gain threw me off balance and made me experience a lot of pain. I was so uncomfortable all of the time that I couldn't even get through a day of work. I finally decided to go see a chiropractor that a coworker recommended. I was very nervous -- I'd heard about having your back cracked, and it sounded scary to me. The chiropractor did manipulate my back, but he was very gentle, and it didn't hurt at all. In fact, it helped. So did the massage table in his office. Without that care, I don't know how I would have gotten through the rest of the pregnancy. I decided to start a blog to help other women learn how chiropractic care can help them through a difficult pregnancy.

Teachers, Back Pain, and How Chiropractic Care Can Help

Back pain often follows teachers at all levels, making their jobs more difficult. Understanding where this pain originates and how chiropractic care can help can put you in the position to eliminate this problem from your life for good.

Teachers Put Their Backs Through Difficult Positions

In one study, it was found that nearly half of all teachers in China suffered from some form of back pain. What causes such a high prominence of back pain in teachers? Think about how you spend a typical day teaching. You likely stand up for several hours while lecturing and moving around the room. If you have bad standing posture, you are likely putting severe strain on your back.

However, the biggest problem isn't standing, but in sitting for extended periods. Teachers often sit in their chairs correcting papers, both at school and at home. Improper back support and a lack of movement both contribute to severe and increased back pain.

Stress Can Seriously Impact Their Back Pain

Teachers often suffer from excessive stress, a problem that can also contribute to back pain. It may be hard to believe, but stress can actually cause physical changes in your body that result in increased back pain. And since teachers so often suffer from stress, it's easy to see how they could fall victim to this problem.

How exactly does stress cause back pain? There are several possible explanations. One contributing factor may be the way that stress may cause a teacher to be rather low on energy at the end of the day. This may cause them to become more physically stagnant, leading to lower muscle tone in the back and increased pain symptoms.

How Chiropractors Can Help

Chiropractors will identify the source of your back pain and will treat your pain with subtle manipulations in your back to help alleviate excessive pressure. This also helps to keep your pain from getting worse. Chiropractic treatments are also a great stress relief, which can help break up any stress-related tension in your muscles.

Chiropractors can also give you a variety of tips for supporting your back during the day (such as sitting and standing with good posture or using support braces in your chair during breaks). They can also identify potentially serious problems (such as scoliosis) and treat them successfully.

If you're a teacher and suffering from back pain that makes your job difficult, you owe it to yourself to go to a chiropractor as soon as possible. They will help treat your problem and get you back on your feet and teaching as soon as possible. Call a practice such as Gerleman Chiropractic Office to set up an appointment.
