Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

About Me

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a difficult time. I've always had trouble with my back, and the weight gain threw me off balance and made me experience a lot of pain. I was so uncomfortable all of the time that I couldn't even get through a day of work. I finally decided to go see a chiropractor that a coworker recommended. I was very nervous -- I'd heard about having your back cracked, and it sounded scary to me. The chiropractor did manipulate my back, but he was very gentle, and it didn't hurt at all. In fact, it helped. So did the massage table in his office. Without that care, I don't know how I would have gotten through the rest of the pregnancy. I decided to start a blog to help other women learn how chiropractic care can help them through a difficult pregnancy.

Dealing With A Persistant Slip And Fall Injury? Call A Chiropractor

If you fell on the ice and you have pain from your neck to your tailbone, you want to get help if the injury isn't healing. If you have constant neck pain and it still hurts to sit on hard surfaces because the injury hasn't healed or isn't healing quickly, something could be pinched or out of line.

This can happen when you take a fall, and getting the injuries looked at by a chiropractor may be your best option. The chiropractor is a skeletal expert, and they can use the following techniques to help the injury.

X-Ray and Assessment

If there is a lot of bruising around the areas you have pain, the chiropractor may not want to start working on the area right away. The chiropractor may want to do an x-ray to see if there are any cracked bones you need to worry about. They also will feel the area to see if they can feel body parts that are out of alignment, swollen or injured.

Adjust the Skeletal Structure

The fall may have caused some of the bones to move out of alignment, and this could be causing pain all through the neck, back, even into the butt and hips. The chiropractor can adjust the skeletal structure back into the alignment, removing pressure and pain. If there is a pinched nerve or tissue, the alignment can help open the area to eliminate pain. You may need more than one adjustment to treat the problem, because the body will want to move back into the damaging position.

Manipulation and Massage

The chiropractor may want to stimulate the muscle, tendons and tissue by manipulating the area and using massage techniques. This is going to help bring fresh blood to the area, and oxygen-rich blood will help the area heal more quickly. This is also going to help eliminate tension in the area and bring pain relief not only to the injured body parts, but to the supporting body parts around it.

Using an anti-inflammatory to help reduce swelling can help with the pain, and you may want to take an over-the-counter pain reliever until you can find out what is causing the pain. A chiropractor is a great, non-abrasive way to get treatment for the pain that you have from your injury without having to undergo surgery or take prescription medications that can be addicting and expensive. Talk with a chiropractor like Eric Schmetterling DC to see if they can help you with your slip and fall injury.
